Responsibilities


 


The Healthcare Analytics Technology Consultant is responsible for the successful development and deployment of analytical technology solutions, consulting with internal customer teams, managing program analytical portfolios, and identifying new insights, trends and relationships with a strong focus on leveraging enterprise data. These managers will be instrumental in enabling analytics partners to investigate, research, and analyze transactional data. Successful candidates would be able to combine their analytical prowess with ability to visualize and deploy end-to-end technology solutions and consult on operationalizing of solutions in the medical or pharmacy policy space, fraud-waste-abuse detection, marketing analytics and healthcare economics.


 


This position is also expected to contribute to the building, maintaining and expansion of analytics infrastructure for the Advanced Research & Analytics (ARA) team.


 


Daily responsibilities include managing team and engagement production, meeting departmental turnaround times, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of algorithms. Additional responsibilities involve working with Analytics Directors on staffing needs, strategic trend identification, monitoring claim inventory, issue resolution and technical solutions related to data, data flow and advising on algorithm development.


 


This role will be responsible for:



• Development, deployment and maintenance of end-to-end analytics technology solutions.



• Development and maintenance of Big Data infrastructure including data acquisition, storage, transformation, and analysis.



• Set team direction, resolve problems and provide guidance to members of own team.



• May oversee work activities of other supervisors.



• Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges.



• Influence or provide input to forecasting and planning activities.



• Make product, service or process decisions likely to impact multiple groups of employees and/or customers (internal or external).



• Collaborate with Analytics practitioners, Business Analysts and Methodologists to create working prototypes of solutions.



• Facilitating or creating complex statistical statements on healthcare data that measures various aspects of healthcare services, consumer episodes, and operational events



• Prioritize and manage an analysis plan and several analytical work streams in support of UHC initiatives and programs



• Work with Process Engineering, Payment Integrity, Quality Assurance, and Operations to validate that the methods designed are accurately reflected in the delivered solutions



 

Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,  Healthcare Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics,  Theoretical Physics, Quantitative Social Sciences or  Actuarial Science required


 


• Advanced proficiency in UNIX/LINUX environments required



• 3+ years of technology, research or problem solving experience required



• 3 years of statistical software experience (e.g., SAS , SPSS, or R) required



•1+ years of demonstrated experience in analytics management; Big Data mechanics, analytic processing, modeling and implementation required



• Must have good understanding of infrastructure planning, scaling, and administration, including demonstrated experience with Big Data platforms.


 


Preferred



• Master's degree preferred



• Hands-on experience with Hadoop stack (MapReduce, Sqoop, Pig, Hive, Hbase, Flume)



• Previous experience with Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Aster Data, Vertica desired.



• Familiarity with Tableau (and Tableau server) desired.



• Proficiency with SQL; VBA coding; Java; C etc., a plus.



• Knowledge of NoSQL platforms (e.g., MongoDB, Couchbase, MarkLogic etc.)



• Experience with healthcare data, specifically in Medicare and Medicaid analytics, provider and consumer analytics, and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) analytics
