Equipment Installer/Diesel Mechanic/ Welder

Equipment Installer/Diesel Mechanic Summary: The overall function of this position is to install dump bodies, mount tilt fronts, hydraulic hoses and/or tanks according to specifications and blueprints, using appropriate drills, welder, torches, band saw and other tools as necessary.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Installing snow plows, and snow equipment (sanders, salters) on trucks.
  • Lays out, fits, cuts and welds fabricated parts as necessary, using appropriate tools and welding equipment to assemble or install dump bodies, handle stands, valve stands, and any other parts and equipment according to blue print for equipment.
  • Installs electrical equipment on plow trucks and dump trucks including running wires, mounting brackets, switches, and control boxes following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications.
  • Tests all installed equipment and wiring using appropriate electrical and/or electronic test equipment to determine proper functioning and installation of electrical equipment.
  • Selects equipment, plans layout, and assembles or installs hydraulics on equipment according to blueprints.


Qualified Candidates For The Position Will Have Met The Following:

  • Required:
    • Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED & 3+ years of related equipment maintenance and repair.
    • Must furnish own tools.
    • Valid driver license.
    • Must have welding and electrical experience.
    • Must have experience using torches, electrical drills, and grinders.
  • Preferred:
    • Industry related experience in municipal equipment, contractor equipment, rental equipment, heavy machinery, and farming background a plus.
    • CDL


Working Conditions:

Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
