The Sr. Director, Agile Transformation and Delivery will be responsible for building and leading an organization that will mature enterprise delivery to agile methods, utilizing waterfall, iterative, and agile/scrum team delivery across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

 

This leader will be responsible for growing enterprise agile talent that will deploy directly into delivery programs, in order to transform the organization through active coaching and direct program delivery.  This leader will be responsible to implement the strategy to grow and retain agile talent required to realize the delivery transformation strategy objectives.

 

The Sr. Director, Agile Transformation and Delivery will also be responsible for driving the definition of UnitedHealth Group's at-scale delivery methodology, one able to conform to the changing needs of a rapidly maturing enterprise.  This role will require implementation and documentation of a detailed methodology across traditional planning processes, waterfall delivery, iterative delivery, and agile delivery (scaled agile framework, scrum methodologies).  This leader will also hold responsibility for driving and monitoring compliance to these documented policies and processes.  Experience in metric-driven delivery, and lean methodologies, will be required in order to build the best-in-class delivery assurance required by delivery at the enterprise level.

 

This role will require close collaboration with peers in order to drive the implementation of the overall delivery transformation strategy, productivity tools support implementation, in order to measurably improve program delivery results.

 

This leadership role will require an individual who can effectively influence change, with a proven track record of delivery and large-scale change.  The individual in this role must be a quick learner with the ability to integrate constantly changing dynamics into an evolving enterprise methodology and delivery practice.

 

The Sr. Director, Agile Transformation and Delivery  must combine strong delivery and lean process experience, and proven track record of transforming large scale delivering from traditional methodologies to agile delivery models.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Accountable for the enterprise transformation office, comprised of delivery and methodology team members

  • Accountable to build and maintain the agile-at-scale competency and talent strategy at the enterprise level

  • Accountable for the company's software delivery methodology and processes

  • Effective communicator, able to message the company's standard software development methodology and processes to the enterprise

  • Close collaboration with delivery teams and organizations to support alignment of current processes to actual in-the-field delivery definitions and processes

  • Evolve and continually improve the software delivery practices, integrating waterfall, iterative, and agile delivery models

  • Lead large scale change initiative to adopt a best-in-class delivery methodology

  • Engage users (both business and IT) as a means to ensure continual feedback and identify emerging methodology and alignment needs

  • Assess adoption processes, including compliance metrics and reporting

  • Ongoing collaboration with enterprise knowledge and learning resources to evolve effective training on the software development processes, methodologies, artifacts and tools

  • Direct oversight of agile delivery team members

  • Direct oversight of methodology team

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


  • 7+ years in software delivery leadership roles

  • 5+ years of resource management experience

  • 2+ years in transformation leadership roles

  • 2+ years of experience as a process engineer

  • Delivery experience utilizing traditional, waterfall methodologies

  • Delivery experience utilizing agile delivery methodologies

  • Experience managing off-shore team members

  • Experience utilizing software quality assurance metrics and concepts

  • Experience defining & implementing actionable process metrics across the SDLC

  • Experience within a large, complex IT delivery organization

  • Excellent communication, listening and collaboration skills


Assets:


  • Basic six-sigma concepts and tools

  • Process compliance tool implementation experience

  • Experience utilizing metric based delivery and productivity implementation

  • CCMi knowledge and experience

  • Scaled Agile Framework knowledge, experience, or certification

  • Industry waterfall certifications (PMP, PgMP)

  • Industry agile certifications (CSM, PO, Scrum Coach)
