We are seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate RN to provide On Call coverage for our hospice patients and staff. As an On Call Hospice Nurse, you will work with other healthcare professionals to determine the best overall care for your terminal patients (prognosis of 6 months or less). Additionally, you would provide emotional support to the patients' families. This position offers potential for growth, a friendly staff, and an opportunity to interact with patients and their families on a more personal level.

 

Please note: This is an on call/after hours position. The schedule starts Monday at 5 pm and ends Friday at 8 am. The On Call Hospice RN will provide telephonic triage and visits as needed. The On Call RN will provide coverage for the patients in census and will need to be available to travel throughout our hospice service area for visits when required which includes both Cincinnati and Dayton markets.

     

Responsibilities for the Hospice On Call RN include:


  • Providing telephonic triage to hospice patients and their families during on call hours

  • Conducting visits as needed (pronouncements, tuck ins and admissions)

  • Conducting admissions visits as needed

  • Working with an interdisciplinary team

  • Providing education and support to patients and families/caregivers

  • Participating in a daily conference call to provide updates on calls received/visits conducted

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of biohazard material

  • This position may also require the on call RN to conduct routine visits and potentially carry a case load of patients (based on census of office)

Requirements

Qualifications:


  • RN licensure (current, unrestricted) in the state location of position

  • 3 years of clinical experience is required

  • Reliable transportation including valid driver's license and auto insurance 

Additional Assets Preferred:


  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience working overnights  

  • Home care and/or hospice care experience

  • Long term care experience

  • Charge nurse and/or nursing supervisor experience

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • The ability to work autonomously

  • Experience documenting in an electronic medical records system (EMR)
