The Senior Underwriter will analyze health benefit plan characteristics and assess risks as to frequency and potential severity of losses of clients. They will utilize established underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. This Senior Underwriter will represent and negotiate rates and plan options with insurers to optimize cost-competitive health benefit plans. They will build and maintain models to assist in the economic analysis of market alternatives.

This position is specific to the Key Accounts Financial Protection underwriting team. The candidate will analyze group life, disability, critical illness and accident risk on employer groups of 100 lives and above and provide recommended pricing and plan designs. The candidate will possess strong negotiation skills and will have frequent contact with sales, claims and contract teams. Candidate should be able to complete tasks independently. Past experience as a Life and Disability underwriter is required. Candidates in Hartford, CT or Minnetonka, MN are desired.

Requirements

Requirements:


- 3+ years experience in healthcare underwriting.


 - Previous Life and Disabilty underwriting experience.
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).


 


Assets:


- Previous experience working with Managed Care Sales, Claims or Contract teams.


- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.


- Bachelors Degree in Math, Finance, Business or related degree.
