Engagement Manager - Technology

Optum Technology Commercial Delivery Team provides technology solutions development and integration across the SDLC including requirements, functional specs, design, custom development, integration, testing, and deployment. Our team maintains a strong focus on structuring, managing, and implementing complex technical solutions requiring deep business expertise, process optimization, and business operations knowledge to achieve significant and measurable business value.

A Consulting Manager - Technology is responsible for the development and implementation of information technology applications as well as providing analysis and programming activities to improve business processes. Standard managerial responsibilities include managing staff, budgeting, reporting and providing overall direction and guidance. Establishing benchmarks and assuring these goals are met within the IT department is another aspect of this position.  A strong knowledge of IT, applications and project management is essential. Since identifying the organization's needs is a major part of this role, a thorough understanding of and over seven years prior experience working in a healthcare is required, with at least three years in a leadership position.

 Qualifications:

-Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% of the time if required.
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experiences
-7+ years of success operating in a leadership role within large, global, matrixed, complex organizations.
-Demonstrated leadership ability, including building and driving high performance technology teams of 30+ people.
-Strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective.
-Broad understanding of technology and how it's used to drive business growth and/or efficiencies.
-Demonstrated ability to apply process, architecture and software engineering principles, methods and tools to business challenges.
-Proven experience delivering high quality technology solutions on time and on budget.
-Track record of building and maintaining long-term working relationships.
-Ability to build the right team, focus people and model/demand integrity.
-Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization (this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations).
-Demonstrated experience managing organizational growth and change.
-Results-oriented individual with strong coaching, decision making, influencing, mentoring, negotiation, problem solving and situational analysis skills.

Assets:

-Experience driving project discovery sessions and capturing requirements
-Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
-Solid understanding of the Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC)
-External or Internal Consulting experience required
-Ability to work independently.
-Ability to manage ambiguity and change environments.
-Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance preferred.
-Familiarity with PPACA federal legislation and OCIIO/CMS guidance of value.
-Knowledge of existing Federal and state-level initiatives for health insurance exchange, and strategies to link these efforts together into a true national network of networks.
