This is a newly created Project Director position working on operations program leadership related to Medicaid and health services business and healthcare exchanges. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Direct responsibility for the successful execution of business
UHG (UnitedHealth Group) operations and process build to support government services business
Manages programs/projects including: development of going in positions, governance structure, recommendations, along with other project documentation
Directs multiple teams in a matrix environment and resolve project risks
Creates, builds and maintains relationships that enhance performance of the business unit, establishes trust and creditability throughout the organization
Creates, builds and maintains strong relationship with clients establishing trust and creditably of the Optum Brand
Obtains commitment from individuals and groups to insure success
Demonstrates decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
Create a team oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies, establishes collaboration and emphasizes quality and cost
Act as liaison to and represent senior management for change impact to program and initiative scope
Facilitate senior management decision making within the scope and change management process
Developing business plans and cost benefit analysis for assessment by Regional/Senior Leadership.
Though annual travel is 75%, candidate should be aware that job currently requires 100% travel for exchange work in various states.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience with complex, large scale Programs/Project Management.
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and/or equivalent education and experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with cross functional impacts across an organization with high degree of external client management
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely and ability to facilitate executive level meetings
- Experience in leading operations for healthcare company a plus
- Outstanding written, verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate internally and externally with all levels of employees, including senior and executive level management
- Demonstrated ability to create, build and maintain relationships that enhance performance of the business unit and establishes trust and maintains creditability throughout the organization
- Self directed, works with minimal guidance, and recognizes when guidance is needed
- Experience providing supervision to project personnel, leading cross functional teams
- Possesses strong work ethic, independence, and dependability
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills
- Drives for results individually and in a team setting
- Demonstrates decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
- Functions effectively in a matrix organization
- PMI or equivalent industry recognized certification a plus
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- MS Office Suite, moderate to advance Excel and PowerPoint skills
- MS Project, Visio and SharePoint skills preferred
