This position is part of a team for developing commercial technology based solutions within the Optum Insight product portfolio.  Defining and developing these new capabilities requires experienced, assertive and customer-focused Product Owners. This position will utilize a combined technology and healthcare background to drive the creation of new capabilities to solve healthcare business problems.  In this fast paced position, the Product Owner will work with customers and internal stakeholders, including Product Management, Subject Matter Experts, and Software Development teams. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Driving product delivery team activities resulting in timely, complete, quality software releases.  The Product Owner is the single voice to management regarding delivery status which includes scope, budget, quality and delivery timelines

  • Gathering, documenting and managing business requirements from both customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Developing and maintaining functional specification documents.

  • Analyzing administrative healthcare data, methodologies, and business logic.  Make recommendations based on analysis findings.

  • Participating in testing and validation activities.

  • Creating and reviewing product documentation.

  • Consulting with internal stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Constantly improving internal processes that progress work flow efficiency.

 

Requirements


 


  •  Bachelors degree in healthcare, business, or technology related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years experience as a product owner, business analyst, scrum master,  and/or product manager in a healthcare technology or data setting.  Experience with software development of decision support applications focused on provider evaluation or provider data sharing is highly desired. 

  • Fluent and proficient in Agile/Scrum development methodology.  Experience leading scrum teams.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare administrative data (medical and pharmacy claims, enrollment, provider data).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience with relational (and non-relational) databases and SQL preferred.

  • Testing and validation experience is desired.

  • Solid computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Individual must have a strong quality focus.
