The Senior Director of Industry Relations negotiates with Pharmaceutical Manufacturers for rebate discounts while working with a cross functional internal teams (Finance/Accounting, Clinical, Legal, Contract Specialist, Client Management) to assure that OptumRx is managing Therapeutic Classes to the lowest net cost for our clients, following clinical guidelines, and executing contracts that are in compliance with  business goals and objectives. 



The Senior Director of Industry Relations responsibilities may also include client facing responsibilities.  In this role you will be expected to:
 - Develop, recommend, and execute contracting strategies in a timely manner that meet both short term and long term objectives and the needs of clients with membership in the Commercial, Medicare, and Managed Medicaid lines of business.
 - Direct others to resolve business problems that affect multiple functional areas.
 - Have the ability to work on multiple projects or contracts simultaneously and meet business timelines.
 - Evaluate, interpret, negotiate, and update language for those contracts under responsibility.


 


This Senior Director position will also require the understanding of the following:
- financial modeling analytics for contract assessment.
- the understanding of the OptumRx client mix.
- mail order capabilities.
– client RFP process .
- formulary utilization management tools.

Requirements

Qualifications


- Minimum of 7 years industry experience in pharmaceutical contracting negotiations, strategy development and contract redlining. 
- 8+ years of experience in managed health care or pharmacy benefit management.
 -Demonstrated ability to work well and collaboratively, with multiple teams or departments for business growth or profitability goals.
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or related healthcare profession work experience as a minimum requirement with an advanced degree (MBA, or PharmD) preferred
- 5+ years of management experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information form others, including but not limited to reimbursement policy standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others.
