Overview:

The Bloomingdale's Merchant Assistant works with the Buying Team to assist with administrative and operational tasks. Responsibilities are related to data entry processes, tracking of merchandise shipping/receiving, and generating selling reports. The position requires frequent communication and collaboration with all levels of the Buying Team as well as with other departments/divisions/channels, vendors, and distribution centers. This position is an entry-level opportunity into Bloomingdale's and has the opportunity to lead to executive positions within the organization based on performance.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Purchase Order entry process
  • Research and resolve any Purchase Order errors
  • Control internal product maintenance
  • Resolve Electronic Data Interchange errors and retransmit Purchase Orders
  • Input price changes
  • Process/enter Return To Vendors and follow up with stores
  • Process/enter vendor clothing allowances
  • Update, track, and follow up on shipping/receiving of merchandise
  • Generate and pull selling reports and queries from internal systems
  • Run reports and download into Excel spreadsheets
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to resolve any issues
  • Request, follow up on, and manage vendor samples
  • Assist with preparatory work for advertising presentations
  • Track delivery of in stock position for ad looks
  • Maintain entry for turn in process
  • Prepare analytical, quantitative data for market recap
  • Promote Omni-channel initiatives by partnering with Bloomingdales.com Buying Team counterparts


Skills Summary:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with a 3.2 GPA or higher
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate in team settings
  • Highly developed organizational abilities and strong attention to detail
  • Expert multi-tasker and quick, resourceful problem-solver
  • Works well in dynamic, ever-changing, fast-paced environment
  • Flexible to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (excel proficiency is critical)
