The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks an Associate Engineer for our Systems Application Development department. Below, please find a description of some of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:
-Provides basic level of systems & network support and performance monitoring for the development and test labs, which service internal clients including QA and Engineering.
-Contributes to the installation and configuration of Linux and Unix and related server and client hardware and software, as well as, integration activities between platforms.
-Maintains network configuration zones, local/wide area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services including system software, software applications, router configuration, firewalls, switches, and cabling.
-Interfaces with team members and testing personnel to provide peer consulting to ensure timely delivery, proper maintenance, and availability lab systems.
-Troubleshoots and resolves basic network and systems related problems.
-Assist in the building of servers, bare metal and VMs, which includes installation of OS via automated methods.
-Administers and manages various development tools, such as Subversion, JIRA ticketing system, Splunk, and Confluence Wiki.
-Administers network access for applications and systems including assignment of VLANs and IP addresses.
-May provide physical setup of hardware including servers, routers and modems. Operations include creation of CAT5 cable for physical wiring and unboxing and racking servers.

Job Requirements:

Candidate must be prepared to work as part of a team to develop high-quality software solutions. Ideal candidate would be capable of utilizing automation tools and writing basic automation scripts without significant external guidance.

Required Skills / Experience:

- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work through discussions with a team

- Service-oriented mindset. This position provides services to many internal customers.

- Can effectively and regularly switch between priorities.

- Basic understanding of networking standards and tech.

- Basic understanding of various protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, DHCP & DHCPv6, DNS, NTP, LDAP, SNMP)

- Some experience in the installation and configuration of Solaris/Linux and ESXi operating systems

- Operationalizing software (log rotation, startup/shutdown/maintenance scripts, etc.)

- Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

- Some knowledge of JRuby, Perl, and bash scripting

- Packaging and deploying software using RPM and apt / yum

- Understanding of IP networking technologies with specific knowledge of network addressing, routing, IP filtering, network based load balancing, etc. IPv6 experience a plus.

- Some knowledge of DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and NTP.

- Familiarity with Cisco iOS or Juniper JunOS.

- Experience with ESXi, vSphere, and VM deployment.

- Experience with systems supprting tools, such as monitoring, backups, and auditting.

- XML and SOAP

- Familiarity with open source tools and applications.
Thorough knowledge of secure software development practices and common application security issues.


Education and Experience:
Bachelor ' s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.


Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
