About this job
- Process medical claims and invoices for drugs and prescriptions
- Submits timely, accurate invoices to payer for products and services provided.
- Correctly determines quantities and prices for drugs billed. The Billing Specialist will have to successfully calculate the conversion for usage amounts (ie. Milliliters to Liters, Milligrams to Grams, etc)
- Verifies that the services and products are correctly authorized and that required documentation is on file prior to billing.
- Ensures that invoices are submitted for services and products that are properly ordered and confirmed as provided.
- Ensures that all required documentation for billing is completed and accurate prior to claim submission.
Hours: Candidates must be flexible with a shift that would fall within the range of 7 am - 5:30 pm, M-F.
- Must have 2+ years of previous Medical Billing experience
- Good math skills are required; candidates need to know how to correctly calculate and convert usage amounts as needed (ie - Milliliters to Liters, Grams to Milligrams, etc)
- Experience reading and understanding contracts (ie - Per Diem contracts and payer contracts)
- Experience reading a pharmaceutical or drug script
- Good understanding of different NDC, HIPAA, and patient codes
- Must understand usage dates in order to get the bill out in the proper amount of time
- Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel
