We are currently seeking a Senior Distribution Manager to impact the organization by developing, implementing, and leading multiple successful customer operations. This individual directs and controls activities in multiple facilities with multiple customers to ensure efficient and profitable distribution services, generally with personal responsibility for meeting a revenue plan. Major responsibilities of this position are to develop operational goals and plans, monitor and communicate operations performance against plan, monitor margins, act as a liaison with customers, set priorities, coordinate with various functions to improve efficiency, and manage a team. 

Other duties include: 

  • Organizing and structuring the team
  • Managing operations to meet customer deadlines
  • Developing and executing account plans
  • Cross selling
  • Providing customer service
  • Participating in contract negotiations
  • Reporting financial performance
  • Monitoring system performance
  • Coordinating special projects as requested

A Senior Distribution Manager collaborates with the District Controller to develop account level profit and loss statements and other financial reports and forecasts.  Individuals in this role also play a key part in quality assurance and service to customers, including participation in business development activities, managing new account implementation, providing exceptional customer service and problem resolution, providing quality control analysis, and making recommendations on operational improvements.  As a member of UPS SCS management, this individual also has responsibilities in budgeting/financial administration, functional administration, and staff management (including career development, staffing, performance management, and organizational development) for all employees in the department.  A Senior Distribution Manager typically reports to a Distribution Division Manager. 

  • Candidates must have a Bachelors degree (IS, Operations Management, Logistics Management, or Business Administration) or equivalent experience
  • Generally, a minimum of eight years of operations experience in a high-volume warehouse or manufacturing operation, including five years' operations management experience
  • This experience must include multiple facilities with multiple customers
  • Work in IE, QA, or Solutions is a plus
  • At this level, candidates must have implementations experience or systems customization experience
  • Candidates should have a track record of participation pricing, contract negotiation, cost (LEAP) modeling, and cross-selling
  • Work experience should include demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction, knowledge of a broad range of UPS SCS products and services, knowledge of IE and PE methods and roles, the ability to work cross-functionally, and the ability to motivate and manage a staff
