Perioperative Nurse - Operating Room Nurse - (OR RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 10 D, 10 E, 7.5/11.5 D/E/N Pay Rate: $29.00 - 32.00
Patient types: All patient types, inpatient, outpatient. All surgical services including transplant. All ages from neonatal to geriatric.
Unit info: 22 suite main O.R. with 1 suite in Labor and Delivery for female surgery. Level I trauma center open and staffed 24/7.
Staff Nurse/Patient Ratios: Days 1:1 Evenings 1:1 Nights 1:1
Speciality equipment: DaVinci Robot, CO2 and Holium lasers, Jackson surgical tables, CUSA, neuro navigation systems, harmonic scalpels, ligasure, inter-operative ultrasound. All levels of minimally invasive procedures and equipment.
The role of the perioperative nurse / operating room nurse (OR RN) is to provide care for patients before, during, and after surgery or surgical procedures. The OR nurse / OR RN also serves as patient educator, circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse, and potentially RN first assistant or operating room director with additional training. Circulating OR nurses work within the operating suite but outside of the sterile field; scrub OR nurses handle and prepare operating instruments and equipment within the sterile field. Perioperative nurses work in every type of healthcare facility, including hospitals, ambulatory or outpatient surgery centers, and physician offices.
