EQUIPMENT SHOP FOREMAN

1.0 JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

1.1 Develops and coordinates maintenance program for all heavy equipment company-wide. Coordinates, estimates, documents, manages, and often implements repairs to equipment fleet. Management to include the scheduling of equipment mechanics and lube techs as well as managing vendors for these tasks. Maintains and organizes equipment maintenance area. Maintains correct levels parts inventories and does parts purchasing. Assists in the management of the Construction Division by reporting to and coordinating with the Vice President of Construction Operations.

2.0 COMMUNICATIONS

2.1 Coordination of materials, equipment, purchasing for proper machine maintenance and tracking to keep jobs on an efficient production pace. Requires constant communication between Production staff and vendors, Sub-contractors, Project Supervisors, etc.



5.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


5.1 Identifies and Tracks the condition, maintenance and repairs for all equipment.

5.2 Coordinates with Vice President of Operations and Job supervisors the timely repair and maintenance of equipment on a job site.

5.3 Responsible for management of the equipment maintenance facility. This includes the orderly appearance of the yard and an updated inventory of materials stocked in the yard.

5.4 Works in close coordination with Vice President of Operations to schedule and arrange equipment moves.

5.5 Monitors actual costs versus budget costs.

6.0 DUTIES AND TASKS

6.1 Equipment

6.1.1 Maintains equipment tracking system.

6.1.2 Receives updates on current hours and condition of equipment.

6.1.3 Schedules and coordinates services and repairs. This may include actual performance of some PM and repairs.

6.1.4 Generates a weekly report on equipment.

6.1.5 Identifies problem equipment and proposes solutions

6.1.6 Trains personnel on the correct way to service, maintain and operate our equipment/vehicles.

6.1.7 Monitors equipment to ensure that all industry standards are met.


6.2 Quality Control

6.2.1 Develops and maintains a quality control program to ensure the equipment and materials purchased are of the highest quality for the monies expended.

6.2.2 Updates parts inventory list and rectifies any discrepancies between actual and the list. Accounts for the materials.

6.2.3 Organizes the timely delivery of parts to the repair.


7.0 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

7.1 Completion of projects on time and within budget

7.2 The company is not cited or fined by any regulatory agency or customer for failure to comply with their mandates.

7.3 Cooperating with all internal & external department employees in maintaining a smooth flow of work from Start-Up through contract completion.

7.4 Keeps equipment running effectively and productively at the lowest cost possible.

7.5 Resolves problems before reaching the Vice President of Operations and General Manager. Any unresolved problem will be presented with a complete suggested solution to the Vice President of Operations.

7.6 Cooperates and works closely with Employees reporting to this position and maintains positive morale.

7.7 Minimizes expenses in all areas of responsibility.
