Summary Plans and designs development of landscape areas for projects on client properties by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Collaborates with internal and external clients on the design and installation of comprehensive landscape design packages ranging from small upgrades to major installations. Assists in the development of a landscaping sales enhancement and/or installation proposals by acting as a consulting resource to the field operating teams including meeting at job sites to do cost estimates, develop sales plans, and gather information to incorporate into the final customer proposal. Confers with clients or Area Managers, client engineering personnel if needed, and Architects, if needed, on overall program. Compiles and analyzes data on such site conditions as geographic location; soil, vegetation, and rock features; drainage; and location of structures for preparation of environmental impact report and development of landscaping plans. Develops creative and attractive landscape plans catered toward customer expectations and goals. Prepares site plans, working drawings, specifications, and sometimes cost estimates for land development, showing ground contours, vegetation, locations of structures, and other facilities, coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures. Works closely with Area Managers to ensure design is in line with customer expectations and cost requirements. Supports Area Manager's creation of landscape plans where Area Manager is the landscape designer. Uses computer software to prepare before and after simulations. Creates blue prints as required for complex projects. Landscape Designer Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software.
