Responsibilities

 

Duties of the applicant will include but not be limited to performing site surveys, performing radio frequency “RF” propagation (coverage) studies, preparing design packages, materials procurement (RFQ, SOW, requisitions, vendor selection criteria, contract negotiations), requesting lease services, making drawings, scheduling installations, and updating the customer on project status.

Applicant will be tasked with supporting the RF portion of the Positive Train Control initiative. Duties will include the evaluation of existing infrastructure for its ability to support the implementation of 220 mHz radio to provide sufficient RF coverage and the determination of additional infrastructure required. Applicant will provide technical support for the design and implementation of the 220 mHz radio network.

Qualifications

 

Skills Required:

Use of RadioSoft Software Programs for Frequency Coordination and RF Propagation                 Use of Mentum Software Programs for RF Propagation Studies

Use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) mapping software

Use of Spreadsheet and Database Software

Use of Microsoft OFFICE suite of programs for business/office

Thorough understanding of Radio Theory, Electronic, and Electrical Circuits

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

Heavy Industrial and Transportation Safety Skills

Qualifications:

               Prefer five years experience with design and implementation of radio systems in an industrial environment.  Previous experience in the Land Mobile Radio industry a plus. The applicant must have an FCC General Class Radiotelephone Operator License. The applicant must have proficiency with personal computer applications to include RF Propagation Software and the Microsoft OFFICE suite.  The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and work with an engineering team on projects.  The applicant must possess excellent communications skills, with emphasis on written correspondence and reports.
