About this job

Sous Chef needed for an independently owned bistro in Bel Air, Maryland. Pairings Bistro is a scratch kitchen of local and southern food prepared in the roots of French cuisine. Our menu changes seasonally and consists of locally grown products paired with carefully selected wines from around the world.

This is 5 day/night a week position, averaging 40-50 hours per week.
Shifts will consist of evenings and weekends.
Compensation based on experience.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:
To assist executive chef in managing all areas of the kitchen including ordering, menu planning, food cost and labor control, and overall cleanliness and organization.

Will be responsible for closing the kitchen.

Ability to motivate, teach and discipline employees to ensure that kitchen standards are met.

Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.

Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.

Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions .

Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
