Progressive Care Nurse - (PCU RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 D, 12 N Pay Rate: $29.00 - 32.00
Welcome to this fantastic PCU unit, where compassionate care meets top notch technology and innovative care teams bring the best of themselves to their patients. The RN on this unit will manage the care of patients on the cardiology inpatient services, patients who are pre and post cardiac/vascular intervention procedures, and other acute care specialty patients who have a need for cardiac telemetry monitoring. Collaboration, teamwork and attentiveness to the needs of each patient are key components to the excellent care provided to the patient population. If you are a compassionate and experienced RN, ready to join a caring staff within beautiful surroundings, this is the role for you!
A progressive care nurse (PCU RN) works in a progressive care unit (PCU) and cares for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren't unstable enough to need ICU care. PCU RNs use computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive a significant amount of complex meds, sometimes through an intravenous line that may need to be adjusted or titrated. The PCU RN is sometimes also called a step-down nurse or telemetry nurse, and the PCU is also known as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, and ER holding.
