The Lead Developer will be a part of the transformational journey to deliver a best in class transactional automotive retail and marketing site to support AutoNation’s business lines, across digital channels. The role of the Lead Developer is to collaboratively drive the development and support of our digital presence for AutoNation including web and mobile sites. This person will develop and work in an Agile delivery model as well as provide review and guidance to other developers to ensure adherence to standards and best practices in the definition of technical requirements as well as design and development of the solution based on user stories. This role requires deep technical knowledge of ecommerce web/mobile and integration development on an enterprise CMS platform with dynamic and modern UI experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Scrum Master(s) to lead development team throughout the development lifecycle from planning and design to delivery of new functionality along with production bug fixes
  • Analyze, design and develop digital, web, and mobile application solutions and enhancements that meet requirements
  • Drive design and code reviews to ensure adherence to programming and enterprise architectural standards
  • Complete work assignments and perform appropriate follow up to ensure that tasks are completed on time
  • Collaborate with product owners, application users, creative team and other developers to define requirements, design, and develop the web application
  • Perform detailed planning and estimation of work effort involved in the development, and support of solutions
  • Assist in the rollout of new applications, problem fixes, and enhancements of software
  • Support configuration management and deployments of SharePoint and configuration items across environments to production
  • Create consistent and accurate technical and end-user documentation of implemented applications
  • Mentor junior developers on application teams for best development practices
  • Support the QA team on automation and other scripting requirements

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering or similar field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with client-server and web application programming in a Microsoft environment
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the technology concepts, practices, and procedures including:

- Digital eCommerce Web Development

- Agile and Waterfall SDLC delivery experience
 - Technical Design and Development
 - Languages: HTML5, CSS, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, Javascript, JQuery, XML, JSON, AJAX
 - Database: MS SQL Server 2008
 - Microsoft TFS, VSS, Powershell Scripting, Visual Studio 2010
 - SOA Implementations – Windows and Web Service Implementations (SOA / REST)
 - Object Oriented Programming, Frameworks, Code Generation, Design Patterns and Practices
 - Integration Skills – MSMQ, Windows Server AppFabric, WCF, WF
 - Experience with Web Content Management Systems
 - Application performance tuning and optimization

  • Solid experience in the development of mobile applications (native and web based) targeting multiple devices including phones and tablets
  • Ability to direct work in a multi-shore environment
  • Strong problem solving, debugging skills, and dedication to quality
  • Learns quickly and can lead a handful of developers and/or solution through release
  • Ability to work in a mission critical fast-paced environment with ability to work flexible hours
  • Previous business analysis experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization and follow-up skills with strong initiative, commitment, and a positive attitude.
