For this unit, the total # of beds in the unit: 10 Labor Beds and 4 Delivery Rooms. Average daily census is: 5-6. Nurse to patient ratios 1:2 for all shifts. No Ancillary Staff. Patients age range: Infants, Adolescents and Adults. Staff works in 8 and 12 hour shifts. Unit patient population: Obstetric. Required Certs: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, Circulate. Specific Unit Requirements: 3 yrs experience, with emphasis on high risk pregnancy. Facility prefers AWOHNN, Advanced fetal monitoring certification. Patient Care Delivery System: Primary. Special Unit Procedures: Cerclage insertion & removal, C/Sections, BTL's emergency hysterectomy. Meds and drips administered: Magnesium Sulfate, insulin, Oxytocin. Documentation System: Nursing by exception -Paper system, Computerized MAR. Supplemental Staff required to float when necessary.
This unit is looking for an experienced and well regarded LD RN to join their dynamic team of care givers!
Labor and delivery (LD) nurses provide care to women and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal stages. They provide support and monitor vital signs of the mother and baby during birth and deal with any potential problems. They may also provide support and education to mothers and their families after giving birth. LD nurses are found in hospitals, clinics and physician offices, and maternity or birthing centers.
Required Qualifications
1. Cross trained to work in Post-Partum and Ante-Partum
2. 2 years LD experience
3. NRP, ACLS card required
4. Current AWHONN advanced fetal monitoring required.
