Animal Laboratory Technician

The job duties are animal husbandry. The days will consist of performing spray backs twice a day (Washing out kennels and cages), feeding animals twice a day, and sanitizing kennel areas daily and refilling food and supplies in the facility when necessary. They will also be receiving new animals and putting them in kennels when new batches of animals arrive. They will be cross-trained on animal husbandry duties in both the biocompatibility and large animal study buildings. They will be working with animals ranging from mice to cows, handling all of them regularly. They will also be responsible for autoclaving (cleaning with a specific machine) surgical equipment, doing laundry for the facility when necessary, and documenting all activities in log books (Date, time and initials).
