Description

Compliance Analyst

Maintain compliance & adherence to all US federal and state laws, Canadian provincial laws and regulatory requirements that impact DPS benefits and retirements plans. Support management and integrity of benefit plan reporting, coordination of benefit plan audits, filings and general compliance-related activities.

Benefits & Retirement Plan Documents & Support
• Create and maintain benefits and retirement plan documents, summary plan descriptions and all other relevant regulatory requirements documentation
• Coordinate with ERISA counsel on plan document updates, research issues and queries
• Collect information and ensure timely distribution of required technical notices to participants
• Resolve complex issues related to benefit and retirement plan compliance
• Manage all internal and external legal inquiries related to Benefit and retirement plans
• Research compliance queries and suggests pragmatic solutions
• Identify opportunities to streamline, simplify or improve existing compliance and control processes or procedures
• Maintain up to date inter-departmental operating procedures and cross-trains with team members
• Read, review and apply legislative changes affecting the retirement system

Audit & Controls

50%
  • Responsible for compliance to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Internal Controls including documenting and reviewing narratives, process flows, control descriptions and testing strategies
  • Serve as DPS lead and facilitator for benefits and retirement plan audits
  • Monitor and ensure the legal compliance of the plans, by working with providers, internal and external legal counsel
  • Responsible for annual plan audits, filing of all routine government files (eg. Form 5500) and compliance testing (Non-Discrimination)
  • Serve as liaison to Internal Audit and Controls team and develops meaningful partnerships and relationships
  • Develop standard set of benefit metrics and deliver management reports to track internal and external status against defined targets and deliverables

    Qualifications

    Education & Prerequisites:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • Knowledge of business internal controls and SOX controls
    • Previous Work Experience: 5+ years of benefits and retirement plan compliance
    • Strong customer service skills with high degree of timely problem resolution.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to interpret federal/state rules and regulations, insurance policies, program provisions and company policies.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive issues.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
    • Excellent track record of completing assignments in a timely and accurate manner that meet quality standards.
    • Strong process orientation.
    • Mastery of MS Office suite of products is required.
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deliver within the deadlines.
    • Ability to adapt in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
    • Knowledge of SAP preferred
