About this job


  • Provide consulting services to UnitedHealth Group's Amil business located in Brazil as relates to:


    • Sourcing strategies

    • Negotiation strategies and execution

    • Contract terms and conditions

    • Supplier rationalization and consolidation

    • Supply chain management 

    • Supplier management

  • Proactively identify emerging opportunities and to translate into sourcing strategies and action plans

  • Independently lead and develop analysis to identify and quantify savings and leveraging opportunities

  • Develop a category management approach within key identified commodity areas

  • Define key business requirements in collaboration with business owners and other stakeholders

  • Develop value-added supplier partnerships that will minimize cost and risk while maximizing quality and value

  • Provide guidance and coaching on contract terms and conditions and related negotiating strategies 

  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Fosters/maintains Amil working relationships

  • Influence key stakeholders and decision makers to deliver maximum value while mitigating risk

  • Accountability for assigned projects

  • Recommends project strategies and benefit targets

  • Leads project execution and negotiations in collaboration with Amil Compras team

  • Negotiate pricing, value adds, service level agreements (SLA's) and other business terms

  • Co-owner for key vendor relationships

  • Collaborates with UnitedHealth Group Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement (ES&P) resources and utilizes available SMEs and preferred vendor relationships

  • Leads analysis of supply chain effectiveness

  • Take direction from, and collaborate with, other ES&P resources engaged in providing similar consulting services to Amil

  • Create project plans, as appropriate, to manage and execute identified initiatives

  • Conduct supplier market research and spend analysis as needed

  • Develops and manages change requirements and strategies

  • Contribute to the development of cost reduction plans and assume responsibility for meeting or exceeding the established goals

  • Ensure compliance with all government regulations and internal policies and procedures

  • Partner with internal ES&P staff to deliver effective reporting as required

Requirements


  • Business or related undergraduate degree. MBA a plus.

  • 6+ years of Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Negotiation and Contract Management and Drafting experience required.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and influence individuals to achieve targeted, positive outcomes and results required.

  • Contract development, negotiation and category management experience required.

  • Demonstrated competitive sourcing (RFx) development and management experience required.

  • Demonstrated strong negotiating and contract drafting skills required.

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry preferred.

  • Experience in a broad set of product and service commodity categories desirable, with specific healthcare or hospitable procurement a plus.

  • Experience with both domestic and international sourcing, procurement and contracting a plus.

  • Ability to work with multiple internal stakeholders across different geographies.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve targeted, positive outcomes and results.

  • Ability to manage and influence change.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to independently lead and manage multiple projects and tasks, and effectively prioritize work.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and time management.

  • Experience with MS Office required.


  • Willingness and ability to learn some Portuguese language.


  • International travel to Brazil for 1-2 weeks approximately 3-6 times per year

  • Experience with Ariba and PeopleSoft a plus.

  • Ability to speak, or learn to speak some Portuguese a major plus.
