Job Description

The Controls Engineer reports to the Controls Engineering Manager and will be responsible for the design, application, installation and programming of controls related to custom-built machinery using PLC and Operator Interfaces

 

  • Develop project specification schematics from customer design standards and templates using creative concepts
  • Utilize PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens and PanelBuilder) Systems  and Operator Interfaces
  • Use creative conceptualization in the development of new machine controls designs
  • Knowledge of robot integration
  • Support and promote Continuous Improvement Objectives
  • Develop all electrical and pneumatic schematics using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Ensure all designs meet safety requirements
  • Provide on-site startup assistance and field support as required at customer facility
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, specifically NFPA or NEC

Qualifications

BSEE or BSET from an accredited university or college with a minimum of two years’ experience, or an Associates Degree in Electrical Design with a minimum of five years’ experience.

 

Machines Control Design to include Power Distribution, Motor Controls, Safety Circuits, Logix (PLC/HMI).

 

Strong programming skills with Robot interfaces a plus.

 

Familiarity with NEC, NFPA-79, UL Codes.

 

Thorough knowledge of AB SLC and Logix PLC programming & AutoCAD for Schematic Generation.

 

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. 

 

Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Customer focused with ability to adapt to customer standards.

 

Ability and willingness to travel up to 40%, may include international travel, as required.
