Mechanical Engineer

Location:North Andover, MA

Mechanical Engineer take an active role in designing truly astounding audio products, by means of deep knowledge in areas such as plastics, metals, cooling, form factor, aesthetics, and reliability. The Mechanical Engineer will use technical knowledge, understanding of materials, and extensive experience in product development (audio product experience is helpful but not required), and critical analysis skills to conceive, design, prototype, develop, and deliver outstanding products that wow and delight customers.

  • PTC CREO /  PRO/E  proficient with demonstrated ability to create and make changes to parts, assemblies, drawings, and solid model databases.
  • Employs solid fundamental mechanical design methodology.
  • Designs for manufacturing processes with experience designing for many of the manufacturing processes and materials used such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, forming and deep-drawing, extrusion, machining, plating, coating, and painting.  Knowledgeable about the specific needs of each process and how to optimize designs and drawings to minimize cost and manufacturing difficulty.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structure development.   Has completed basic GD&T training with understanding of primary secondary and tertiary datums. Understands basic tolerance symbols and their respective tolerance zone shapes. Can execute simple tolerance stackups and evaluation of parts utilizing GD&T.
  • Familiarity with PPAP and its elements including DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, as well as other related submission and validation requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and openly (both written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required. 
  • Demonstrates good internal consulting skills.  Actively listens and seeks others opinions and focuses on facts and process, not the individual or opinion.  Shares information honestly and transparently, up, down and across the organization.
  • Understands project management tools and principles (in topics such as requirements, scheduling, risk and issues, budget, and metrics) through training and/or experience.
  • Fabricate prototypes with assistance from junior staff, technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers.
  • Develop test methods and conduct characterization and engineering pre-verification testing.
  • Write test protocols and reports.
  • Address customer complaints by determining root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services.
  • Participates heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals.
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • May mentor and coach the work of others as assigned.
  • Participate in peer reviews throughout the project with other engineering staff both internally and externally.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.

  • BSME Degree required
  • 5-8 years PTC CREO  /  PRO/E  experience a MUST
  • Electrical Engineering experience preferred but not required 
  • GD&T experience
  • Familiarity with PDM systems and ECO work
  • Task definition and manpower scheduling experience 
  • Strong fundamental mechanical design methodology.
  • Expected to have knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines.
  • US citizenship is required, Valid passport is a plus.
  • 0 – 10% travel is required.
