Description

Fleet Mechanic II
The Fleet Mechanic II will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, vans and forklifts as directed by Fleet Manager and Lead Technician. This individual also disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends and electrical systems.

Pay and Schedule Information:
  • Union position
  • Hourly pay rate as dictated by collective bargaining agreement (CBA)
  • 4 day work week – usually Monday-Thursday OR Tuesday-Friday

Position Responsibilities
  1. Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  2. Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary.
  3. Diesel engine diagnostics and air brake inspection and repair
  4. Respond to service calls.
  5. Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records.
  6. Maintain cleanliness in areas of work and tools.
  7. Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections).
  8. Pick up and deliver vehicles.
  9. Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner.
  10. Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor/Manager and Lead Technician.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • 21 years of age or older
  • 3 years of documented mechanic experience on light and heavy equipment
  • Lift, push and pull a minimum of 50lbs repeatedly
  • Pass a drug test, criminal background, verifiable employment verification, social security, and motor vehicle record check
  • Valid CDL A or the ability to obtain a CDL A within 90 days
  • Must be able to provide own tools
