The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Regional Manager coordinates the day-to-day operation by leading and organizing the activities of GSE employees servicing automotive ground equipment.

In this role, the GSE Manager will review and analyze reports and records of daily operations to maintain knowledge of activities.  Confer with Supervisors/Crew Chiefs for new commitments, status of work in progress and problems encountered.   Assigns or delegates responsibility for specified work and activities, sets deadlines to ensure timely completion, plans utilization of manpower and monitors quality of work performance.   Prioritizes repairs, services, modifications and preventative maintenance of the automotive ground equipment in accordance with company policies and standards.

The GSE Manager ensures performance targets are met and monitors operational budget.  Formulates and/or interprets Company policies and procedures and disseminates to the team.  The Manager will implement procedures for safe and efficient work tasks by obtaining optimum use of equipment, facilities and personnel.  Provides technical assistance to subordinates in trouble-shooting and resolving maintenance problems.  Responsible for hiring and training employees and ensuring overall department compliance as well as compliance of personnel with Company policies, procedures, safety rules and any government regulations.

In this role, strong organizational and decision-making and interpersonal skills are necessary.  Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business is critical. 

Position Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid state driver’s license 
  • Proven leadership and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple and often competing priorities
  • Willing and able to work non-standard work schedules when necessary due to changing or unplanned operational needs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing 
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel
  • Must be able to travel
  • Possess the legal right to work in the United States
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language

Position Preferences

  • College coursework or college degree desirable
  • Automotive maintenance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Sabre highly desired
  • Previous experience working in a Union environment
  • Previous working experience in a supervisory role

Additional Position Details

  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
  • Federal law requires American Eagle to determine an applicant's history of Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring him/her into a safety-sensitive position
