Time Warner Cable SportsChannel currently seeks a Associate Producer/Video Journalist. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:
- This position is responsible for generating content including timely or feature style stories or segments for inclusion inside TWC SportsChannel ' s studio and original programming
- The role will report, write, produce, shoot and edit sports stories or segments as directed by the Sr. Producer. Story selection and gathering execution will be self-directed.
- Using creativity and imagination, and exercising strong professional news judgment, gathers information, conducts interviews, shoots video, produces, anchors and reports assigned sports stories and events on a daily basis.
- Will often work alone to report, shoot and edit sports stories, operating field cameras, gear and video editing system. Has functional to advanced knowledge in the use of field cameras, lighting gear, and editing systems. Must be proficient in photojournalism and video editing techniques.
- Develops original ideas for sports stories, show segments and features.
- Stories must be factually accurate, fair and balanced in content, and written in a clear and concise manner.
- Obtains sports information by developing sources and using research and interviewing skills. Conducts live or taped on-camera interviews.
- Assists Sports Sr. Producer in planning sports coverage.
- Deals professionally with public, both official and non-official, in gathering and reporting sports stories.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of partner and regionally-relevant sports teams (professional, college and high school) and stays in close contact with area coaches and teams.
- Maintains a strong familiarity with local and national sports and issues of the day by reading newspapers or digital news sources
- Will work with programming staff to expand content to web, VOD, apps for tablets/smartphones, and mobile video, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements (Tactical Responsibilities)
- Excellent writing skills, strong on-camera presence, diction and delivery of sports copy are essential.
- Positive, collaborative and unselfish interpersonal skills with strong verbal, written communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey requests and ideas to editors, graphic and audio designers, talent, etc., are required.
- Familiarity with various studio and remote broadcasting equipment.
- Solid news judgment, with knowledge of current local news and newsmakers a plus.
- Must have or develop functional to advanced knowledge of common TV newsgathering equipment including cameras, tripods, microphones, lighting and other field equipment.
- Must be able to use and have knowledge of common television newsroom computer systems and software, with ability to learn new software systems
- Experience or functional knowledge of graphics and video editing systems, with knowledge of non-linear and or desktop-based editing systems a plus.
- Proficiency in Word & Excel with basic math skills.
- Good organizational and project coordination skills are necessary, including the ability to compile materials. Good problem solving skills and the ability to multitask and work effectively under changing priorities and daily time constraints are required.
- Strong overall sports knowledge.

Knowledge & Experience (Technical Responsibilities)
- Must be able to hear and speak since both written and verbal communication are required on a regular basis.
- Must have ability to recall, remember and maintain mental focus.
- Must be visually able to use a computer continuously throughout the workday.
- Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques.
- Knowledge of studio-based production and post production.
- Familiarity working with Dalet, ENPS or similar production workflow system strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Apple Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere preferred.
- Familiarity with studio, production, and post production equipment and software.
- Basic understanding of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of Television Broadcasting systems.
- Strong understanding of the organization ' s goals and objectives.

Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor ' s degree, 1-2 years practical training and experience in sports TV production and strong sports knowledge is preferred however the right combination of these will be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of sports reporting/anchoring experience and in a commercial TV environment is preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel depending upon project needs

Leadership/Staff Accountability:
- No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
