Pay: $18.00

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to serve as a general carpenter for a wide range of construction projects.

Position Responsibilities:

• Apply knowledge of woodworking and carpentry in building consoles, cabinets, countertops, framing and any other furnishing.

• Assist construction crew with drywall, ceilings, flooring, tile, hardware, masonry and woodworking.

• Work from blueprints and instructions from Director of Support Services to layout, measure, mark, and arrange material. Cut, shape and join wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall using hand and power tools.

• Check work for accuracy and quality.

• Work in coordination with other construction and maintenance personnel to keep projects on schedule.

• Observe safety precautions in the wood shop and maintain and clean and organized work environment.

• Plan for projects in advance by ordering materials and managing all projects and tasks effectively and performing them efficiently.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Two-year degree or accredited apprenticeship program, however a combination of education and experience will be considered.

• Over 8 years demonstrated experience working in a variety of carpentry applications.

• A thorough demonstrated knowledge of carpentry materials and tools.

• Must be highly safety conscious.

• Must be able to work in a team environment and interface and communicate well with supervisor, equipment operators, and facility staff.

Must be willing and able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs., and willing to seek assistance for anything over 50 lbs. (should not seek to do over 50 lbs. without assistance)
