We have a client in Union City that has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Technician: Food production experience is required.



Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Department: Quality Assurance

Location: Union City

Support the Plant QA Manager and team by assisting in the following:

  • Maintain Company food safety and QA programs

  • Perform necessary testing on incoming raw materials and finished goods

  • Develop and implement food safety and QA programs as needed

  • Fill in for QA Manager as required

  • Train employees on food safety and QA programs

  • Work with Sanitation Group to ensure food safety and quality

  • Manage pest control program

  • Investigate QA complaints and implement corrective actions when necessary

  • Lead/participate in company’s continuous improvement, safety and Visual Factory Management programs

  • Provide technical support on new product rollout, new process and equipment implementation

  • Conduct monthly plant GMP/Food Safety and Quality System audits

  • Evaluate ingredients and processing techniques to identify product improvement and cost optimization opportunities. Manage internal and external suppliers (request samples and product specifications and other related technical documentation, discuss product changes, performance or regulatory issues).

  • Perform product cuttings and shelf life studies and create evaluation reports

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, laboratory notebooks and computer database that are repeatable and reproducible, Fulfill and/or oversee internal & external sample requests

    Qualifications:

  • Working Knowledge of food safety and QA programs such as (HACCP, GMO, SPC, Pest Control, Sanitation, etc.)

  • Familiar with SQF, Silliker, AIB, Cook & Thurber Audits

  • Strong Baking experience

  • Good oral and written communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in a food manufacturing company

  • Familiar with current food regulations

  • Strong food plant audit experience

  • Strong Continuous Improvement experience

  • Visual Factory Management experience a plus

  • Must be able to work occasional off-shift and weekend hours as well as occasional travel

  • Key personality traits: Ambitious, highly organized, goal oriented, open minded, creative, resourceful and tenacious in problem solving

  • QA experience

  • Strong working knowledge of food ingredients, packaging and manufacturing environments

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must enjoy working in a fast paced and team oriented environment

  • PC / internet skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, database) and the ability to create spreadsheets, computer analysis, report writing
