The Sales Operations Data Analyst role is an integral part of the corporate Sales Operations team supporting a nationwide sales force. We track key performance metrics across multiple sales roles, optimize geographic territories and markets, and administer various systems designed to facilitate and incentivize sales performance. The team has about 15 people in analytical and administrative roles, and we collaborate on a daily basis on projects and reports. As our principal Data Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring our data sources talk to each other properly and that we're collecting the information we need to provide thorough and accurate reporting to everyone from sales representatives to senior leadership. We produce a large number of recurring reports, and there is a great deal of opportunity for this role to streamline and automate these processes, reducing the need for manual data entry and improving accuracy and efficiency.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • Create workflows to verify that system interfaces are working properly, and that data ties out between systems
  • Manage the design, automation, and production of sales reports and dashboards to track key performance metrics
  • Create SQL queries to retrieve data from corporate data sources
  • Design and automate QA processes to ensure data and reporting accuracy, consistency and completeness
  • Identify process improvement needs and develop ideas for implementation across the department or sales force
  • Analyze data and reports to proactively identify trends and make recommendations to leadership
  • Track results of new programs and other growth initiatives
  • Respond to field leadership's requests for information and ensure that reports meet their needs
  • Assist with the administration of the sales compensation program and identify opportunities to improve its functionality and data outputs

  • Design and automate recurring reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) - 25%
  • Design and automate data storage - 25%
  • Produce recurring and ad-hoc reports - 20%
  • QA data and reports - 15%
  • Compensation system analysis and administration - 15%


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year college degree in an analytical discipline (Finance, Accounting, Economics, etc.) or equivalent work experience (advanced degree preferred)
  • Three to five years of related work experience in an analytical role focused on process improvement
  • Advanced Excel proficiency required
  • Intermediate Access proficiency required (advanced query design, beginning to-intermediate form design)
  • Intermediate proficiency in VBA (other programming languages will be considered, but this role is primarily going to code in VBA)
  • Ability to work with multiple spreadsheets and databases to generate complex analytical reporting under minimal supervision


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Microsoft SQL Server and reporting tools
  • Ability to create complex analytical models (financial, sales, operations)
  • Compensation experience
  • Sales analysis experience
  • Six Sigma or other process improvement certification
  • Microsoft SharePoint 2013 experience
