About this job

This position is part of the OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions Healthcare Economics department and generally responsible for researching and investigating key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. Provides management with statistical findings and conclusions. Identifies potential areas for benefit expense improvements and strategies. Provides data in support of actuarial, financial and utilization analyses.


 


- Manages and is accountable for professional employees (two direct reports).


- Sets team direction, resolves problems and provides guidance to members of own team.


- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges.


- Influences or provides input to forecasting and planning activities.


- Interpret findings and prepare materials to clearly communicate analytical findings to management and others in the organization.


- Proactively identify potential areas for improvement of health care quality and affordability.


- Specific responsibility for maintaining/enhancing two dashboards based on authorization data (built in Business Objects and SQL Server Reporting Services).

Requirements

Requirements:


- Undergraduate degree required (Master's preferred)


- Must have 5+ years of experience in healthcare economics, financial analysis, and / or healthcare cost analysis,


  combined with strong project management skills


- Minimum of 2 years of SAS programming experience


- Good understanding of relational databases


- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills


- Must be able to work effectively with others and have good interpersonal skills


- Experience successfully maintaining multiple projects simultaneously


- Excellent communication and presentation skills


- Demonstrated ability to perform requested tasks with minimal direction


- Highly organized and able to work well under tight deadlines


- Ability work under pressure of multiple deadlines
