The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Network Capacity Engineer for our Network Capacity Planning Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary
Provide analysis, solution and implementation of network capacity issues across the TWC network. Motivated individual will need to be able to develop quality working relationships with TWC corporate, regional and vendor entities supporting deployment of TWC enterprise hardware in 3 rd party leased facilities. Individual will be responsible for ensuring available access to TWC backbone via leased network connectivity is sized accordingly, to support future growth. Engineer to maintain accurate database and financial records, providing critical infrastructure updates at 3 rd party POP locations. Must understand OSP fiber engineering and ISP COLO infrastructure, including power calculations, basics of power distribution, rack face drawings and elevations, suite layouts, other critical facets to acquiring footprint.

Essential Job Functions:
Individual to be tactically oriented, able to execute under pressure independently or in a team setting with a targeted focus toward positive results in support of customers ' requirements. The primary function of the role is support of TWC enterprise requests for hardware installation, configuration and connectivity to TWC networks in 3 rd party collocations.

The individual will be responsible for colocation vendor management, which will include but not limited to:

- Work with requestors, legal, business affairs, and the vendor to negotiate and approve MSA and COLO agreements

- Work with engineering and implementation to determine best practice to install gear into existing or new facilities

- Work with requestors to prove in requests via business case opportunities, comparing revenue with expense, based on terms

- Power management of all sites, including major metro pops, amplification facilities, stand-alone commercial datacenter racks, etc.

- Should be able to decipher engineering documentation for requirements, including KMZ files, fiber distribution and routing, and scopes of work

- Experience with network deployments (dark fiber), placing power and disconnect orders under existing agreements, work with construction for new builds. Prepare network drawings, work with internal stakeholders, and prepare reports

Person must be able to trend, analyze, forecast and implement the following on a daily basis:

- Operating expenses as it relates to the region of responsibility in the areas of:
o Monthly circuit costs
o Monthly space and power costs
o Monthly operation and maintenance costs
o IRU costs


- Capital expenses as it relates to the region of responsibility in the areas of:
o Card and port requirements for regional aggregation routers
o Planned build projects

Candidate must be able to forecast, negotiate, order and install network circuit capacity for all divisions supported by assigned region. Ensure that the regional hardware is installed or on order to support network requirements. Person must also manage vendors on delivery timelines and provide concise, clear updates to senior management on milestones achieved, resetting expectations when needed.

Job Requirements:
Individual must be proficient with working knowledge of tier I IP network provider networks and subsequent hardware supporting that network. Strong hardware knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Infinera, Motorola and Nortel DWDM optical transport is mandatory. Person will need to be able to communicate across intra and inter-company boundaries stating requirements needed in support of their customer requirements, many of which incorporate multiple vendor platforms.

The candidate must be able to eloquently communicate to senior staff in both verbal communications and the written word. Attention to detail is a requirement in our communications to ensure that parties being communicated to have a clear, concise understanding of what is being requested of them.

The individual must have extensive experience in working on and troubleshooting layer 1 connectivity issues with multiple vendors in a high energy environment. Person must also recognize when assistance from other groups or peers is required in support of solving a problem in an expedited fashion.

Preferred Qualifications:

- CCNA certification or JNCIA-M certification a plus but not required

- Microsoft Excel, Visio, and presentation software experience preferred

- Knowledge of DWDM and IP Networking and experience with interpreting OTDR fiber test results is helpful

Education and Experience:
Bachelor ' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
