Headway is currently looking for Field Staff to work on a project evaluating a child care quality rating and improvement system. Field staff will visit child care programs in Delaware to conduct child assessments, director interviews, and classroom observations.

The study is being conducted by RAND, a non-profit research organization providing objective analysis and effective solutions that address the challenges facing the public and private sectors around the world. This study will be conducted in child care programs throughout Delaware.

POSITION TYPE AND DURATION

Part-time and full-time positions are available. All positions are hourly and temporary. Weekly hours will vary based on study enrollment. Expected duration of the project is through Summer 2015.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of the project is to collect data from both in-home and center based child care programs of various sizes to help inform decisions regarding a quality rating and improvement program. Field staff will be assigned to sites and will be responsible for scheduling visits, collecting parental consent forms, administering standardized child assessments to 2-5 year old children, conducting director interviews, collecting information from teachers, and performing classroom observations.

Primary duties of the Field Staff are to:
  • Contact child care programs enrolled in the study to schedule and confirm your visit(s)
  • Travel to different child care centers or the homes of child care providers throughout Delaware
  • Conduct interviews with the directors of child care programs
  • Administer standardized child assessments to children aged 2 to 5 years old (some children will be assessed in Spanish)
  • Conduct classroom observations using a standardized tool
  • Collect information from teachers, including questionnaires about participating children
  • Record observations and responses from the above activities accurately
  • Keep detailed and accurate records
  • Enter data into a study-furnished computer
  • Send data and provide weekly updates to the Project Supervisor
  • Follow established project-specific research and data collection procedures
  • Adhere to strict confidentially guidelines and quality control
  • Maintain professional conduct





JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Experience in survey administration or research setting
  • Comfortable working with children from diverse populations and neighborhoods
  • Excellent organizational, time management and record keeping skills
  • Regular internet and email access
  • Ability to pass a Megan's Law background check
  • Valid driver's license, dependable car and proof of auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors on time-sensitive tasks
  • Must be able to attend trainings and administrations on specified dates
  • Computer Literate
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred


TRAINING: Field Staff will receive both virtual and in-person paid training, with dates to be determined. Attendance at all of training is mandatory. Trainees must successfully complete training to continue employment on the project. Continued employment eligibility is contingent on successful completion of training and reference checks. indwfs835
