Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provides leadership and input into the architecture, detail design and development of the business office organization

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of strategic direction for the Revenue Cycle process for supported facilities

  • Responsible for ongoing financial performance and business plan success for the specific Revenue Cycle functional components

  • Develops and implements risk management processes in line with Revenue Cycle directives

  • Oversees the consolidation of facility back end processes and deployment of the Revenue Cycle operating model

  • Oversees and monitors progress against a specific business plan

  • Assumes a lead role in the refinement of service level agreements with customer leaders and representatives; responsible for market and area satisfaction with overall performance

  • Leads leadership team in day to day operations of specific functional responsibilities

  • Oversees the monthly results and planning

  • Ensures that financial analyses, financial forecasts and routine reports are completed accurately and within established schedules for operational areas

  • Identifies and provides implementation recommendations and administration concerning means for reducing costs and/or increasing revenue based on market trends and industry operating procedures

  • Participates in the development of short and long term objectives that will assure the continued growth of Optum360 and the provision of healthcare services required by the community

  • Directs and motivates the management team

  • Assumes a lead role for innovation, knowledge sharing and leading practices identification among peer group

  • Monitors performance and communicates with Information Technology management to ensure optimal use of installed technology, planned system conversions and identify future needs

  • Performs staff reviews and prepares performance documents for direct reports

  • Develops, implements, monitors and communicates service level agreement performance with System, Area and Market leaders to ensure optimal performance

  • Development and oversight of operational plans and internal controls

  • Ensure that customers actively engage in continuous process improvement to enhance performance and corporate contribution

  • Ultimately responsible for compliance and quality standards and will work closely with the VP of Business Operations to communicate and report results

  • Identify and communicate project goals, schedules, responsibilities, progress and performance

  • Understands complexities and needs to start-up, build and maintain a new business

  • Control operational and financial aspects, including core Functional Operations, Regulatory Standards and Quality Assurance with shared corporate or local authority for designated service area based revenue cycle functions

  • Interact with other Optum360 leaders at the System level for those customer facilities serviced and deliver a positive impact on the company's financial and operational performance

  • Assumes site leadership for the Sacramento COE facility

  • Performs duties and job responsibilities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of Optum360

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 10+ years Revenue Cycle Management Operations experience within a large hospital required


  • 10+ years' experience with Billing, Collections, PFS and/or Technology required



  • 10+ years of leadership experience transforming operations required



  • Effective leader with ability to engage, motivate team; including abilities to hire and develop top talent



  • Strong analytical abilities with familiarity with industry technology 



  • Broad experience with RCM operations, people leadership, and transition/change management



  • Well-developed understanding of computer applications and information technology



  •  Ability to network the resources necessary to marry financial planning with the clinical and operating systems of the organization



  • Ability to communicate long term goals and lead leadership team in development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives



  • Ability to execute large scale transition while monitoring ongoing changes for performance impact



  • Ability to earn respect and trust of facility CFOs and other external customers


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Masters Degree

  • 10+ years Revenue Cycle Management Operations experience within a large  multi-facility hospital

  • Experience with organizational start-ups, mergers, acquisitions, operational consolidation and shared services

  • Consulting experience in areas of business transformation, finance reengineering, shared services, change management and project management

  • Experience in healthcare billing and/or collections or similiar environments preferred

  • Managed Care financial and operational experience a plus
