Project Manager is responsible for on-time and on-budget completion of all construction projects under their direction. The project manager will be responsible for multiple concurrent projects throughout the full life-cycle from initiation through completion and handover to operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Full responsibility for managing multiple simultaneous projects in multiple locations; each project with a different value at various stages of conception, design and build. Projects may include but not be limited to sheet metal roofing and siding work.
• Complete responsibility for managing full lifecycle of project, including permitting; environmental review, design and engineering, budgeting, scheduling, contract bidding and negotiation, site preparation, construction, testing and quality assurance, inspection and handover to operations.
• Hands-on, onsite management of metal fabrication, engineering, environmental, welding and general construction and other contractors required to complete project activities.
• Participate in the multi-year strategic planning process for construction projects. Suggests schedules, budgets and scopes changes to proposed major projects to remove constraints and increase the likelihood of on-time and on-budget completion.
• Responsible for managing employee and contractor safety programs on construction and hard surfacing projects. Works with Environmental Manager and Safety Manager to ensure environmental compliance to storm water and safety regulations during design and build phases.
• Identifies additional project management personnel needs during periods of significant activity. Sources and manages these personnel as necessary on a temporary basis.
• Provides presentations as well as comprehensive written project status reports to project stakeholders, sponsors and senior management.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or combination of education and years of experience. Applicable hands-on construction experience managing large projects will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working on large civil or industrial construction projects.
• Minimum 1 year experience of complete responsibility for managing construction projects as an on-site project manager.
• Working knowledge of construction processes.
• Working knowledge of sheet metal roofing construction and experience managing contractors in these fields would be helpful.
• Experience managing budgets and providing budget updates to project sponsors and accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in Microsoft Project, Primavera or substitute project management software.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and influencing skills.
• Must be willing to travel
