Overview:

Macy's Logistics and Operations distribution center in Secaucus, NJ is seeking talented individuals for Part time Material Handler positions. Associates are responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of cartons by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing in a safe and efficient manner. Material Handlers may be assigned to or rotate through various areas and positions such as Loader, Unloader, etc.

Monthly/Weekly work schedule will vary. Approximate 40-70 hours per month. During October and November this will increase to more than 120 hours each month.

Primary Responsibilities:

Loads and unloads cartons onto or from delivery vehicles, conveyor systems, etc.

Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shifts of 4 to 8 hours

Processing must be completed in a timely manner to maintain established department and location standards

Perform other related duties, special projects or assignments as required

General Requirements:

Adheres to company policies and procedures; follows department training guidelines, best practices, and operating procedures

Keeps work area neat and clean

Maintains standards of appearance according to location dress code

Works well with fellow Associates, Supervisors and Managers

Follows all Location Safety and Security Guidelines

Ensures equipment, skids, slips and other department supplies are maintained

Work Environment

Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts

Noise level varies and can be loud

Temperature in the distribution center may vary between 40 and 90 degrees, and will occasionally exceed 90 degrees

Very fast pace environment

Required Skills and Abilities:

Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule with notice of work up to 24 hours in advance

Ability to follow instructions and take directions

Ability to perform tasks consistently and accurately

Physical activity to include standing and walking up to 4 - 8 hours

Ability to function in a multi-level environment, including climbing stairs, bending, twisting, stepping, stooping, reaching, lifting, and pushing

Physical ability to move merchandise weighing up to 49 pounds on a regular basis without assistance and items heavier than 49 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
