Laboratory Technician

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

SCOPE:

Responsible for performing timely and accurate workflow assignments. Assists and provides backup for all personnel within the laboratory operations as necessary. Follows directions to perform assigned responsibilities within the section, in a timely and accurate manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsibilities may include glassware cleaning, sample and standard preparation, sample and standard disposal, instrument loading and sample receiving and processing.

2. Work within the specified department to meet the overall goals in the department in compliance with good laboratory practices and also in line with overall company goals.

3. Follows laboratory practices for safety and waste management.

4. Adheres to all company policies and procedures at all times.

5. Assists in training of laboratory personnel as directed.

6. Uses good laboratory practice in all aspects of laboratory work.

7. Maintains cleanliness of work area.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. A minimum of a high school diploma.

2. Good organizational skills.

3. Good written and verbal communications skills.

4. Ability to follow directions and work independently.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer and peripherals, any range of standard and computerized instruments and equipment utilized within the assigned laboratory area, and a variety of chemical reagents.
