The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Systems Engineer for our Windows Operations Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position. This position requires experienced, skilled and talented individuals.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide Tier III support services to the TWCable. Duties include processing or troubleshooting Service Desk tickets as assigned. Measures of success include the ability to resolve assigned tickets in a timely manner as well as be viewed positively by our customers as courteous and helpful.
- Provide advanced systems administration and on-call support as required to all supported servers. Measures of success include the ability to identify and implement proactive services that accurately monitor and report systems status information for the purpose of maximizing uptime and optimizing systems performance. Rapid response and remediation to problems or deficiencies are essential keys to success.
- Identify and provide proactive corrective actions for repeat failed systems, target systems for continual system improvement and develop process, changes and measurements that will reduce system failures. Determine large scale operational changes benefits and deploy as needed. Develop large scale and pin point changes designed for specific existing issues or future outages.
- Perform other duties as required by management.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a high level of technical competence in the following areas: Windows 2003, Windows 2008, and VMware operating systems. Server hardware and its configuration, including an understanding of the architecture of server systems. SAN and NAS Storage. Active Directory. Advanced monitoring and windows scripting tools and standards. Experience with the tasks involved in the day-to-day operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of datacenter server services.
Successful candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong collaboration skills. The candidate must be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under tight timelines, and have good problem-solving capabilities. Candidate will also be required to work closely with remote teams to accomplish common tasks. Must have high level troubleshooting and problem identification skills and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 100 to 200 level understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems
- 200 to 300 level understanding of server level computing hardware
- MCP 2003 or 2008 - Desired
- CompTIA A+ and/or Net+ - Desired
- High level of detailed and exacting measures of changes for large system base and complex environment
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or zero to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate ' s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
10 Years ' experience.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
Lead: Assigns, trains, schedules or oversees work of others.
Supervisor: Plans, staffs, evaluates and directs work of employees of a work unit.
Manager: Delegates authority to carry out work of a unit to subordinate supervisors or managers
