The LAN Administrator has responsibility for local area networks operation and maintenance and end user support in their assigned offices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support of client hardware and software within assigned office.
- Administers network servers as according to documented policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and make minor desktop and server hardware repairs.
- Install and provide support for Microsoft Office, e-mail, proprietary software, virus software, and emulation programs.
- Assists in server software installation.
- Provide end-user support and trouble shooting.
- Configure and install client PCs, printers, cabling, hubs, and switches.
- Assist LAN Manager with capacity planning.
- Responsible for successful backup of servers in their assigned office.
- Installs and monitor LAN hubs and switches.
- Ensures the compliance of corporate IT policies.
- Documents operating procedures and LAN configuration.
- Resolve local e-mail issues.
- Recommends hardware and software upgrades.
- Ensure prompt issue resolution within assigned office.
- Assist rollout of new principal software.
- Manages rollout of new hardware and software within their office.
- Assists Director of Telecommunication in resolution of telecommunications issues as directed.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science
- 2-3 years experience in LAN Administration functions.
- Must have prior work experience in data and/or voice communications networks and demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the technology required to operate such networks.
