Qualifications:
  • Mill experience preferred.
  • Person should be accurate and detail oriented, possessing reading, writing and mathematics skills at a high school level.
  • Able to pass background check and drug screen.


Requires physical strength and dexterity to frequently manipulate controls, walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 50 to 100 pounds depending on location. Hand coordination to grasp, push, pull and fine manipulation. Vision, hearing and speech essential. Job requires contact with hazardous materials and work in adverse weather conditions.

Job Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Weigh and prepare micro-ingredient and drug packs for batching operation while adhering to strict GMP, QC and plant policies / procedures.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Communicate and coordinate micro-ingredient and drug pack preparation activities with appropriate production personnel in order to meet batch schedule requirements, quality standards, and to maximize plant efficiency.

2. Perform and assist Quality Control Supervisor with daily micro inventory and reconciling drug inventory and usage. Monitor micro inventory to ensure adequate supply and expiration dates.

3. Per established procedures and the Bar Code Hand-Add System, accurately weigh drugs and micro-ingredients into designated clean containers, according to current formula and designated batch size. Operate the automated system to achieve maximum weighing accuracy and insure weighments conform to limits for under and over tolerance.

4. Label micro and drug containers with system printed bar code labels to ensure operators can accurately identify same.

5. Drug handling is strictly controlled by the FDA and by the Southern States Quality Control Program. Established handling and documentation procedures must be strictly followed. Immediately notify immediate supervisor or QC Supervisor of any suspected problem with any micro ingredient pack. Review and comply with QC Manual bulletins F10, F11, F12, F15, F20, G15, and L36.

6. Maintain inventory supply in micro scale system bins and operate forklift as needed (if applicable at the mill assigned).

7. Accurately complete and maintain assigned reports, inventory records, logs, and related QC documents.

8. Clean and maintain equipment, work areas assigned, and micro inventory storage areas, per mill Housekeeping Plan.

9. Check scale accuracy with check weights daily and perform routine preventative maintenance, report equipment maintenance needs, and assist maintenance as required.

10. Safely operate so as to not harm equipment, yourself, or your fellow employees. Utilize personal protective equipment as required per mill PPE plan.

11. Comply with OSHA Regulations and company Safety Rules / policies.

12. Perform overtime and any other duties as assigned
