Primary Responsibilities:



  • Support Health Information Management Department operational processes by collecting and preparing documentation for entry into the Electronic Medical Record; scan and index clinical documentation under supervision; provide customer services via phone and fax

  • Answer phones and fax information

  • Collect paperwork from clinical areas

  • Scan and index approximately 500 different types of clinical forms/documentation into the Electronic Medical Record

  • Ensure that HIPAA and legal guidelines are followed in all interactions with patients and in handling of the medical record

  • Report issues directly to Senior Health Information Management

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • High school education or GED

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or 3+ years of military medic experience required

  • 1+ years of customer service experience

  • Basic level experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook, with the ability to navigate a Windows environment

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements

  • Good organizational and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Good 10-key calculator skills

  • 1+years' experience with EMR

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bilingual

  • Proficient computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Excel

  • Prior experience with scanning equipment
