The Sales Associate role will work with our Territory Managers to establish business plans for assigned markets as it relates to the expansion of producers we work with, service plans for top producers, and activities that increase RFP's received and close ratio of Optum Financial Services products. Primary focus will be on accounts based products, HSA, HRA and FSA with secondary focus on stop loss.


 


It will be the responsibility of the Sales Associate to work with their assigned Territory Managers to execute business plans specific to their responsibility in assigned territories including tracking key success factors. The Sales Associate will need to conduct phone and in person sales calls, do presentations and webinars, answer questions about primary and secondary product assignments, create and manage pipeline activity, close deals and act as a backup for both assigned and unassigned Territory Managers.  Additional responsibilities can be assigned at manager's discretion


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Accountable for the maintenance, growth, increased profitability and persistency of new and existing business, the acquisition of new business on existing accounts, customer satisfaction and the strategic direction of assigned accounts

  • Account Executive focuses on the small business market segment, those customers employing from 2 to 99 employees

  • Identify potential health care business customers

  • Sell health care products to small business (2 to 99 employees) customers, often through brokers

  • Achieve new and renewal sales based on individual performance and market criteria

  • Attain regional and health plan goals related to specific targeted health care products

  • Produce sales that results in profitable premium levels for the company

  • Work with brokers to develop and monitor client financial performance including renewal planning, negotiation and profitability levels

  • Develop business relationships with customers and brokers/consultants within the small business market

  • Develop and enhance the profitability of the key small business accounts through the selling of new and existing business to these customers

  • Share responsibility for team retention objectives, and for ensuring that team follows up on 100% of renewals

  • Partner with UW to develop renewal rates and responsible for presenting 51-99 renewals to brokers or clients

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening)

  • Demonstrated desire to be in sales

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships

  • Minimum of 2 years in a sales, customer service, and/or client focused role

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to anticipate problems and identify solutions

  • Desire to learn new products and services

  • Willingness to travel

  • A valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:



  • State life and health insurance license

  • Prior sales experience

  • Prior health care experience
