The Information Security Associate assists with the identification, tracking, and monitoring of information security threats and service operations. This position provides direct support to the business and Information Services (I.S.) staff for security and service related issues. He/she utilizes established processes and tools to focus on incident response, threat identification, analyses, and remediation. This position supports the processes for technical and physical risk management to protect UPS’s information assets.

Other Duties

  • Responds to service requests, problems, crises, and critical situations to support resolution and minimize downtime.
  • Conducts tests to determine and correct security malfunctions and breaches.
  • Documents test results to identify responses and next steps.
  • Operates access controls to maintain security and service continuity.
  • Identifies and researches malfunctions and breaches to perform and maintain security administration.
  • Conducts checks with existing accounts and data access permissions against documented authorizations to identify security violations.
  • Performs basic analytical tasks to support service operations and security management in protecting UPS’s information assets.
  • Engages with colleagues and internal clients to investigate and identify security and service problems.
  • Interfaces with internal clients to ensure compliance with implemented security software, hardware, policies, and procedures.
  • Runs security analysis reports to document inconsistencies and violations.

  • Report Generation: Possesses ability to generate simple reports using basic functions in software, and/or writing basic queries; identifies information required to complete reports and identifies existing reports generated by others.
  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Demonstrates a general knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information.
  • Technical Problem Solving and Analytical Processes: Diagnoses technical problems by utilizing pre-defined steps and available tools and manages simple technical problems. Contributes to making recommendations for the resolution of problems. Participates in walk throughs and tests for critical processes and applications and assists in identifying deficiencies and inefficiencies. Assists with making agreed upon changes designed to improve processes and applications.
  • Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work. 

Minimum Qualifiers  

  • CISM, CISSP, and/or SANS GIAC Certifications-Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree-Preferred
