POSITION PURPOSE -
The Auditor is responsible for executing customs compliance reviews and audits. These audits encompass the examination and evaluation of import transactions as well as the adequacy of the company's systems of internal controls as they relate to imports. Responsible for filing Post Entry Adjustments, protest and other correspondance to the appropriate government authorities in the US and CA; assumes responsibility for remaining up-to-date with internal audit guidance, Sarbanes-Oxley and GAAP. The audit work will conatin aspects of operational and financial audits to assess the effectieness of compliance processes relevant to legal an policy requirements. Partners with internal and extenal business partners to identify risks and recommend corrective action.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
  • Develop and execute project plans for a specified segment of a project, execute and deliver key tracks or segments of a project, formulate objectives, identify resources, set timelines, and communicate results and present deliverables for a segment of a project. Research and analyze discrepancies that were discovered during audit process, prepare Post Entry Amendments for filing to federal government.
  • Assist the Mgr./Sr. Auditor in determinign the objectives and risk of core processes that support a business strategy.
  • Creat process maps and identify critical success factors, use data/metrics to measure the risk within the process and the impact of controls on the process opportunities, evaluate the effectiveness of controls, identify sustainable soltions and fix the breakdowns.
  • Gather, analyze and manipulate data, review for trends and exceptions and draw sound conlcusions. Use statistical sampling tools to to graphiclly display and analyze results.
  • Detect deficient controls, duplicated effort and non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

  • Typically reports to Senior Auditor
  • Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must pass the Drug Test.
  • Must pass the Background Check.
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

  • Experience in compliance auditing
  • Customs Brokers License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

  • Ability to commnicate with all levels of associates
  • Must have knowledge of US and Canadian Customs rules and regulations as well as other government agency laws
  • Problem solving and general analytical skills
  • Strong organiational skills and attention to detail
