The Pharmacy Technician Service Representative (Pharmacy Technician license required) is responsible for answering incoming calls/ completing outbound calls to/from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity.
 
Primary Responsibilities:



  • Pharmacy technician working in the Prior Authorization unit within the customer service department of OptumRx

  • Using established criteria and guidelines, the pharmacy technician receives and processes prior authorization requests made by providers and members for medications not inherently covered on a member's prescription drug plan

  • Answer prior authorization inquiry calls as well as research and resolve formulary and benefit issues using the appropriate reference material

  • Resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

  • Handles inbound phone requests and gathers member data to provide information for Pharmacist consultations

Requirements

Requirements:



  • Current California Pharmacy Technician license or National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required

  • An education level of at least a high school diploma or GED OR 10 years of equivalent working experience

  • 1+ years' experience providing customer service and working with healthcare professionals required

Assets: 



  • 1 + years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician

  • 1 + years of PC skills (MS Word, Excel) proficiency

  • AS400 claims system knowledge


Physical Requirements and Work Environment:



  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/ fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods of close vision looking at a computer monitor
