The Case Management Medi-Cal Coordinator will be responsible for the daily input, maintenance, process, and tracking of our MCal Treatment Authorization Requests (TAR) as the accounts go through the various stages of adjudication. This person will also maintain a TAR Control database, request charts from Health Info, Mgmt., and complete various administrative processes on a daily basis.

Employees in this function are responsible for checking in, scheduling appointments, answering billing questions, and managing patient medical records for a clinic. Roles may vary based on the size of the clinic(s).
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Be a successful liaison between the facility and the Dept of Health Services Field Office.
  • Must be organized and must be able to meet established deadlines. The successful candidate can work independently as well work as part of a team.
  • This position is required to support our current manual TAR process. The process involves data entry into an Excel workbook, med records requests, follow through with the DHS Field Office for TAR status, and preparation/submission of the TARs for adjudication. Although primarily based at California Hospital Med Center, this position will provide support (as assigned) to the TAR process at our sister facilities in the SoCal East region.
  • Moderate work experience within own function.
  • Some work is completed without established procedures.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Los Angeles Fire Certification Card, or the ability to obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time between other hospitals (including Los Angeles, Long Beach, and San Bernadino).
  • Previous experience with MCal TARs and TAR process.
  • Previous experience in an acute Hospital setting.
  • Previous Medi-Cal and HMO Billing experience. 
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Office products on a daily basis
  • Reliable transportation, a valid Driver's License, Automobile Insurance, as well as willingness to support the TAR process at sister facilities in the region.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
