As the healthcare industry shifts to be consumer-focused, UnitedHealthcare is launching a program to envision, incubate, and bring to life bold, new models to reinvent members' healthcare experience.  We will simplify, personalize, and care through integrated product, clinical, and service offerings that enable people to manage their healthcare, improve their health outcomes and better manage the medical cost structure. The goal is to rapidly develop, test, and iterate new experiences in a lab environment.


The Design Director is fluent and skilled in the human-centered and participatory methods of design thinking to identify unmet customer, market and institutional needs and creates new service concepts or business strategies to meet those needs. These methods include: conducting observational research, interviews and workshops; undertaking internal and external research activities; generating conceptual frameworks and formulating insights related to the synthesis of the research data; create tangible , compelling design expressions, communicate vision, and helping our colleagues develop great solutions.


 


Desired Qualifications


·         Experience within a corporate and/or external management consulting firm focused on global strategic and/or service design.


·         Demonstrated experience with diverse work cultures, diverse ideas and needs.


·         Demonstrated ability to thrive in an ambiguous and dynamic environment and comfortable with non-hierarchical organizations.


·         Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.


·         Outstanding verbal and written communication skills


·         Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence all levels of an organization, regardless of direct authority.  Success working closely with executive leadership.


·         Exhibits a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness and works well with ambiguity


·         Ability to shift seamlessly from strategic to tactical


·         A love of collaboration and learning

Requirements


Required Qualifications


·         Master's Degree in Service, Interaction or other Design-related field strongly preferred; Bachelor's Degree in Service, Interaction or other Design field required


·         Minimum of 5 year's experience human-centered and/or participatory methods of Design to identify unmet customer, market and institutional needs with demonstrated track record of creating new service concepts or business strategies to meet those needs.


·         Minimum of 2 year's experience with matrix teams and partners (internal and external) to deliver solutions integrating change management strategies for successful adoption.
