Work Environment:
This position is located at the AMDC and is in a professional office environment. There will be daily interaction with other AMDC workgroups, customers and various levels of AMDC management. We do adhere to the UPS guidelines on dress code.
Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for completing various Material and Invetory System (MIPS) projects, closing responsibilities, monthly reporting, presentation updates, various audit help, quarterly and yearly planning updates, and assisting with contract analysis work.
Job Description:
During the closing cycle on business days 1-3, this position will be responsible for the preparation, auditing and entering of journal entries in the general ledger. Responsible for updating the monthly cost presentations with assigned variance analysis and required explanations. The completion of various reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, or on an adhoc basis. The completion of or assisting with various MIPS related and contract analysis projects as needed. Quarterly and yearly planning updates related to the Procurement and Distribution groups that we support. Responsible for planning and presenting cost data at monthly meetings with the management team.
Required Skills:
Must be at least a junior standing in college pursuing a Finance, Accounting, or Business degree. Must be proficient in Access and Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving skills. Must have a good working knowledge of financial concepts and accounting principles and be able to apply them to the position.
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of Longview Planning and Reporting system, MIPS (Materials and Inventory Planning System), and General Ledger processes.
Interpersonal Skills:
Must be able to work under the pressure of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines during the monthly accounting closing process within a group environment. Must have strong written and oral communication skills in order to talk to the various groups and customers that are supported.
